On Monday, December 13, 2004, Monroe County officially went online with it's brand new, state-of-the-art 800 Mhz digital radio system. The system is expected to provide better coverage throughout the county. As expected with any new system, there is always those small flaws. They are being worked on and it should be fixed in no time. Since that Monday, Monroe County Central Dispatch has been simulcasting over both the analog and digital systems until everything is completed. Below are some facts on the new system: *AS OF 1/28/2005, Monroe County Sheriff's Dispatch and LEIN is NO LONGER SIMULCASTING on 460.175. They have completely converted over. *Fire Departments on 154.430 are still simulcasting but they won't be for long. However, firefighters are trying to keep it simulcasted. *All four towers have been installed. Their locations are:           Dundee, Whiteford, Monroe Twp, and Berlin. **A fifth tower has been approved in January 2005 to be built just across the state line into Ohio just off of Lewis Ave to improve the reception for south county users. **The two ambulance providers for Monroe County; Huron Valley Ambulance (HVA) that covers north county, and ProMedica that covers south county, are not equipped with the county's 800MHz system at this time. **Monroe Community Ambulance (MCA), which is a joint-service that involves HVA, ProMedica, and LifeStar, will be equipped with the 800 MHz system once the company is established. They will operate off of the 58E911 talk group. The radio frequencies they will be using for the system are as follows: 866.050, 866.300, 866.3875, 866.800, 867.400, 867.4625, 867.4750, 867.900, and 868.400 as the alternate dispatch and 868.900 as the primary dispatch.
